Hi Everyone, I am Rahul Pawar currently working as DevOps Engineer/Product Specialist for IKEA. I have recently passed AWS Certified Developer - Associate exam with score of 817/1000. I would like to share my preparation journey with you all so you can also ace this certification and move ahead in your professional journey.
AWS Developer Associate is very focused exam on AWS services for development and deployments. The exam contains lots of questions on services like AWS Lambda , API Gateway and DynamoDB database. These three services are most essentials in this certification exam.
Following are the services which are most important for the exam:

AWS Lambda

AWS API Gateway

AWS DynamoDB

Amazon Cognito

S3

AWS CDK

ElasticBeanstalk

Step Functions

IAM roles
I have started my preparation journey from Udemy course which is given below. it is most efficient and easy to understand course offered by Stephane Maarek on Udemy. It will help you cover all the important services and contains tutorial for Hands on practice
https://www.udemy.com/course/aws-certified-developer-associate-dva-c01 I have completed the course in 2 weeks time after that I had option to take practice exams or practice the services with small projects
You can take practice test from Jon Bonso from Udemy. He has good set of practice questions much more similar to actual exam questions.
I have not opted for practice test and I have personally worked on hands on project. You can make free AWS account for one year without paying any charges.
Firstly, Create a free AWS trial account use the AWS budge service to set an alert for services which is overused and chargeable.
You can set Budget upto $1 and create an alert for it using the 80% threshold. It will help you monitor your services and avoid any charges.
I have worked on following sample project and they have expanded my AWS development knowledge immensely. You can code Lambda function either by using NodeJs or Python language. I personally choose the NodeJs. Project Ideas :

Create a website with simple HTML page and try to host it in AWS S3 static hosting.

Create an web form host that in AWS S3 static hosting. Create an POST API in AWS API Gateway then Trigger Lambda function to store the form data in DynamoDB.

After completing above project, You can add AWS SQS to trigger the lambda function after getting event notification in S3 bucket.

Deploy a web application using AWS ElasticBeanstalk. Update the website version using Elastic Beanstalk rollout pattern or blue green deployment. = If you beginner you can follow the tutorial from Felix Yu. He has mentioned the easy and simple tutorial for AWS projects.
I have practice the hands on with AWS services for almost 2 weeks and decided the go for the exam. I suggest you if your new try to understand the background of each and every services mentioned in official exam guide. I found lot of questions about REST APIs, HTTP APIs , Security, Key management make sure to look into this services. I hope this information is useful for you.
I wish you all the best for the exam. This is my first blog post. Do let me know your thoughts in the comments section. For any suggestions or help you can connect with me on : ShowwCase https://rkpawar0995.showwcase.com/
